You can tell how long ago these photos were taken, back when the leaves were still crunchy, fresh from falling off the trees. Now they're more of just a mushy mess. I picked this Zara skirt up on a hectic Sunday in Birmingham, just before we went to see One Direction, I can tell it's going to be in my wardrobe a long time. I think sometimes when I buy things I know if it's only going to be a short term love affair, which is bad really, but especially working in retail you realise how quickly things come and go. Quicker than you'd believe. I guess that's probably why I own so many black skirts and black boots, because they're always so versatile no matter the season.

The Instagram America round up

I've been back from America five weeks now and I've got over my jetlag, moved house, Christmas shopped until I had a breakdown (quite literally) and survived another Christmas working in retail. It's been hectic to say the least. I've only just got round to sitting down properly and sorting through all my photos. I did have a flick through at some point in December but it made me miss it too much so I stopped. These are all the photos from Instagram, so if you follow me over there (elegantcha0s) then sorry for the repeats.

I just wanted this to be a quick check in since my last post was way back when in November, but hopefully now I'm back on track, blog posts will happen a little more regular. I do have a few more America posts lined up so check back for them!

I cannot believe this time next week I'll be in Miami, or I'll at least be nearly there. I'm not sure with all the time differences and all. It's hard to explain how I feel about the whole trip. It still doesn't seem real and I don't think it will until I get on the plane. 

This hat is definitely tagging along on my American adventure. I gravitate towards anything with a pom pom at the moment. No jokes, even my shoes have pom poms on them. I'm just hoping this hat'll be okay in the Miami heat and the New York chill. Oh man it's gonna be so hard packing for two different seasons!

There was something about these boots as soon as I saw them. Sure they're pretty damn ugly, but I've always been partial to the occasional ugly item of clothing (you wait until you see the new hat I've bought). If you can get over the fact that Kat Slater would probably own a pair of these they actually add a nice little summin' summin' to an outfit.

I swear these photos have sat in my drafts since June! Someone needs to give me a good talking to I swear. There's something about little pumps like these that just scream Dirty Dancing. They just remind me of Baby learning to dance. There's that one scene where she's dancing across the bridge that always comes to mind.

My Sunglasses Favourites

I know I'm a bit late to the sunglasses game (roll on Autumn!) but driving down the motorway everyday I know I'm still going to require a good pair of sunglasses for those sunny winter mornings too.

From the top are my absolute favourites from Discounted Sunglasses. These are the first pair of designer sunglasses I've ever owned so needless to say they've been looked after. I picked a classic black cat eye, a colour that goes with everything and for some reason cat eye's just scream LFW at me.

The next two are H&M. I love that the bar on the white ones sits in line with the top of the frame, rather than sitting on the nose and I have to admit the tortoise shell just get thrown in my glove compartment as my 'oh bugger it's sunny this morning' saviours.

Lastly comes Primark's £1 wanders. I picked these up maybe February time. Primark bring out these bad boys every year.so do not fear they'll be back in the shops before we know it (not that I'm trying to wish my life away).

Oh god, this playsuit is by far my favourite purchase this summer. It's just so pretty and flattering, especially when I was this brown (it seems like such a distant memory now). Someone said they thought £29.99 was a bit steep for a playsuit. I clearly didn't think so, I've gone out and bought it in the yellow version as well.
