Company Fashion Forum

 top: Topshop
skirt: Urban Outfitters
jacket: ebay
boots: H&M
necklace: Primark
bag: Primark
faux fur collar: H&M
ring: ebay

I've been going on about my visit to London for long enough now that you're probably glad I'm back. One of the reasons I went was to attend the Company Fashion Forum even at Hackney Picture House. The event was very insightful into getting a job within the fashion industry and I definitely came away even more determined than I already am, especially hearing it first hand from people in the industry. Miss Selfridge's visual merchandiser didn't even go to university!

I had a bit of a panic when it came to packing on Tuesday night and after trying on about 10 different tops I settled for Abi's Topshop basic vest. I love Topshop's basics and I seriously need to invest in some myself; Abi's one grey vest isn't going to get me very far.

I will do a separate post on what I got in my goodie bag, but by golly I got some treats! I hope you've all had a lovely week, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

So ordinary; No mystery

 top: Topshop
blazer: H&M (other colours found here)
jeans: Topshop (other colours found here)
shoes: Primark
necklace: Primark
rings: Primark, eBay
watch: Red Herring @ Debenhams

I noticed that most of the time I post what I wear and where it is from but it has either sold out or wasn't on the website to begin with. So this time I've posted the links to the same item but just not the colours I have.

I can not rave about my Topshop Leigh jeans enough. Compared to my H&M ones they are fabulous. They are a lot more elasticated whereas H&M's tend to be quite tough and just go baggy at the knees after a couple of hours of wear. This post wasn't aimed at slagging off H&M jeans, it's just I own a lot of them and would trade them all in for one pair of Leigh's. When I buy jeans again, I'll be sticking to Topshop, they may be pricier, but I know they will last longer.

Week #45

Working hard in my office // On my way to university
Carbs for dinner! // Me and Daniel on Bonfire night
What I wore // Streamed this on iTunes for free...TWICE
Selling this cardigan // Before bed
Can't live without these // Essie nails
What I wore // Tiny turtle
Cocktails at Date night // Daniel
A mirror shot before rushing out // Trying dresses on during my lunch
The other one i tried // My sisters, minus two.
 Selling these two as well.

It's been a quieter week than last week, I've still been panicking about photography projects left, right and centre, but I've just got to ride with it and remember that Christmas is coming. I'm probably going to put a few things on my ebay in the next few weeks. I'll give my wardrobe a clear out, then a couple of months later, there'll be things that I think 'I don't want to wear that again'.

I'm off to London on Wednesday for the Company Fashion Forum. Who knows maybe it'll be my lucky break for a job in fashion! I can't wait to get out of Telford for a few days, it's been about 2 months since I last visited the Capital - way too long! Expect Instagram overload.

What we wore in Liverpool

shirt: H&M / blazer: H&M / jeans: H&M / shoes: Primark / bag: Avon / necklace: Topshop
jumper: Vintage / jacket: Topshop / jeans: Topshop / boots: Topshop / bag: Topshop

I thought I'd show you mine and Naomi's street style photos we took in Liverpool last week. Nay is on the same course as me at university and as you can probably tell, I'm a H&M kind of girl and she's a Topshop kind of girl. I love her style though, she always looks lovely. Her jumper was a gift from a friend for her birthday, it's vintage but the tag inside says 'elle'. Those kind of one of finds are the best!

I took a plunge with the pink and red colour combo and if I'm honest I wasn't all that disappointed (or embarrassed). I do hate how H&M jeans seem to not have much stretch in them and just go baggy during the day. I think I'll be sticking to the Topshop Leigh style from now on like my bright pink ones.

Essie Nail Lacquer Turquoise & Caicos

Essie Nail Lacquer Turquoise & Caicos (£7.99)

I picked this up in LA on a whim and I think this is only the second time I've wore it. I don't really know why I picked this colour, greens aren't really my favourite nail colours, and Essie do much prettier shades in their nudes and pinks.

Considering the price, which is probably the most I would pay for a nail polish, I found this shade very thin and watery and it took two coats for it to opaque, which is partly why I layered it with my American Apparel Supernova. (Partly because I can't go a week without having some form of glitter disco on my nails).

I'd definitely love to try some of their other shades just to compare. Fiji and Ballet Slippers are shades that look really pretty and elegant.

Work hard, play harder

 skirt: H&M
vest: H&M
cardigan: Primark
jacket: Primark
boots: H&M
belt: Primark
necklace: Topshop
watch: Red Herring

This is an awfully dark outfit to what I would normally wear. Usual outfits for me tend to consist of a little bit of colour, but this is very black and neutral. This skirt I've had for about a year, but H&M have done their usual trick and bought out the same style for this season. Mine is probably slightly longer than the new one which I probably would prefer the shorter length, but even with my little heeled boots it doesn't look so long on me.

I've got so much work to do in terms of projects for university. If I didn't let myself have a social life I would literally sit at my laptop from the time I got home to the time I go to bed to finish all my work, but there always has to be that balance doesn't there. I will post the pictures soon from a shoot I did on Friday for my Studio Strategies project.
