I like to be in America

Primark top (circa 2009)
H&M skirt
Topshop bowler hat
River Island shoes
H&M sunglasses
Primark rings
I think this outfit is a mash up of some of the oldest things in my wardrobe. One thing I realised when I opened my wardrobe this morning was how few summer clothes I actually have, and I mean proper summer clothes, not spring ones. I guess my style has changed quite a lot since last year and a lot of it has gone on ebay but I don't want to take the same clothes I took on holiday with me last year on my holiday in August so I guess I'll have to be doing something about that!

I got to meet my little white kitty for the first time today. I had to pick between two little white brothers who looked exactly the same (if you don't believe me look at the snap on my instagram: elegantcha0s). After finally choosing one, his current owner said she'd put some red food colouring on his tail so we knew he was mine. Before we knew it he had a red splodge on his head which she tried to rub off and resulted in me now being the proud owner of a white kitty with a pink furry head. So cute! I feel so grown up in my own house with my own little kitty to care for.

Cinema date

River Island shoes
Topshop necklace
Primark rings
I shot all these photos then realised I hadn't changed my white balance so now they've got this horrible warm tone to them. I would sit and filter it out but I'm off out in a bit and don't have time. I'm going with my sister to see all her old school friends at prom (we're basically just using any excuse to be nosey at as many proms as possible). Then later tonight me and Daniel are going to see Now You See Me at the cinema. I've heard some pretty good reviews about this film so I'm pretty excited.

This blazer is much more red IRL, but it just didn't photograph like that (the white balance situation probably didn't help). It's gorgeous though none the less. I kept the rest of my outfit simple, and black which is unusual for me and the blazer was my pop of colour. It's maybe a little smarter than I hoped for just a cinema date night but who cares!

Food Diary #1

Before we get into this I just want to start by saying that I am by no means a food expert. I don't count calories and I can't read the back of food packages. I'm not here to tell you what you should or shouldn't eat, this is simply what I like to eat. Maybe I eat too much, maybe I eat too little but in my bid to eat healthier I thought I would start documenting my eating habits from time to time.
Meal 1
Cheesy scrambled egg on best of both bread with a glass of Forest fruits. One of my favourite breakfasts.
Meal 2
Baked potato filled with cheese and bacon with a side of lettuce and cucumber. In a bid to use up the bacon before it went off I cut it up and added it to my usual baked potato and cheese lunch.
Meal 3
Aldi's answer to Kettle chips. These are so yummy. I allow myself a small bowl of these because if I sit there with the bag I will eat them all.
Meal 4
Fizzy cherry cola bottles. I was getting far too worked up redesigning my blog I opted for another sweet treat to keep me going until Daniel got home.
Meal 5
Bangers and mash with peas. A nice change from a pasta dish that me and Daniel seem to live on. Homemade mash is the only kind of mash that is acceptable.
Meal 6
Salted popcorn. I always like a little something to munch whilst me and Daniel watch an episode of Game of Thrones before bed. I didn't end up eating all these though because they got left in the microwave too long and burnt.

Time for change

Topshop Leigh jeans
Primark shirt
H&M blazer
Topshop necklace
These colours just scream autumn to me, but since our "Great British summer" is a bit of a flop I think the colour scheme is acceptable. I only popped out to get my nails done and opted for my Chelsea boots yet again. I've really gone off flat shoes lately, and either live in my boots or gladiators.

I spent the rest of the day redesigning my blog. I was going to leave it shut and do it all in one go but I'm no pro at HTML or CSS so it's a slow process. I didn't really start out with a plan so I'm just sort of making it up as I go. If you know any good sites for tutorials then please share! I have come across some cracking ones today and I'm really starting to get into it. Please bare with me!

Avon Mega Effects Mascara

Avon Mega Effects Mascara*

Can we start by promising not to laugh at my awful expression whilst demonstrating how this mascara is applied? When I was given this in the little box my first impression was that it was a nail polish in the box. When I pulled out a mascara I was even more confused.

Let's start by talking about the applicator. The bristles are much fuller and cover a bigger area making it quicker to apply and any clumps are easily combed through. Because the formula is more watery than other Avon mascaras it is much more buildable and I've found it lasts much longer without drying out.
The brush handle bends making it easier to reach both top and bottom lashes. To get it out of the container you have to wiggle the handle a little and when reinserted you have to make sure you hear the click to save it from drying out.

The Mega Effects mascara has been patented to Avon for two years, meaning nobody else will be able to release the same in that time. Whether it will take off after that or just be a gimmick who knows. I personally love it and think it does it's job really well. It takes a little getting used to and admittedly did end up with mascara all over my lids on my first use but we're best friends now and work together like a dream. The mascara will be available to buy around August time from your local Avon rep. Will you be trying this?

What I bought: June

shoes: £8
I only bought these because my Arabel boots were killing my feet when we visited London. A quick stop in Primark on Oxford St. and all was fixed.
Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick in Mandarina: £6.49
I took full advantage of 3 for 2 in Superdrug at the beginning of the month. All three of these have become firm favourites in my beauty routines. The foundation especially is so gorgeous on the skin.
kimono: £19.99
I managed to find the last in my size in this after searching high and low. Kimonos are such a lovely summer cover up as opposed to a jacket or blazer. Definitely on the look out for more.
gladiators: £7
These are the comfiest shoes I own! I've been tempted to buy another pair because I fear I will wear them out before I go on holiday. They are so soft compared to my last pair of black gladiators.
I've definitely kept H&M in business this month. I was drawn to the colour of this and the front style. It's a lovely material thats quite formal but can be dressed down. Perfect for a black outfit.
all items: £7
The peach dress is the only item I can find on the website and it's the only thing I don't really like. I tried it on to wear to a party on Saturday night and I decided it's far too see through on my bottom half. The monochrome dress and shirt are the newest black and white bits in my wardrobe. I seem to be drawn to monochrome at the moment.
I've had so many problems with these boots but we're finally friends again. For a short while I lost faith in ebay. Normally I love it but after the trouble with these I contemplated giving up on my favourite online marketplace.
