Small Things to Appreciate

I have to say this post before Christmas is still one of my favourites. Sometimes it's nice to remind yourself of the small things in life that make it that little bit better.
  • It still being daylight after 8pm.
  • When your favourite TV show comes back on (Game of Thrones).
  • Shaved legs and fresh bedding - a match made in heaven.
  • Buying men's clothes to wear to bed.
  • Blossom having been and gone, summer's on it's way kids!
  • Evening walks.
  • The pay and display machine being broken right outside work.
  • A proper sunset, like this one from Barmouth last month.
  • Being able to get away with not wearing tights.
  • Waking up before your alarm and being able to go back to sleep.
  • My little house, I'm so in love with it right now.
  • Naughty little Boulle. Life just wouldn't be the same without him.
  • Having things to look forward to; Majorca, Miami, New York.
  • Making lists for absolutely everything.
  • Having a good mechanic just a phone call away.
  • Fresh flowers all around the house. I'm waiting with bated breath for peony season.
  • Being able to spend my lunch break sat by the lake outside.
  • Picking my little nephews up from school.
  • A broken lift at work. All the trekking round the fire exit means more burgers for me.
  • Adventures.

Tips for the four eyes amongst us

I'm not even exaggerating when I say I've been a four eyes for as long as I can remember. These days I switch between specs and contact lenses and normally save my specs for lazy days. As I've gotten older I've learnt what suits me and my glasses. Excuse the fact that I look like an alien, I sport the alien look far too often these days, I think I've just got a big head.

Hair Up Since I have quite dark features, along with black frames I find that wearing my hair down can overpower my face. I like a simple high pony or top knot to brighten up my face.
Bold lip I definitely favour a pink lip over a classic red lip so when I'm wearing my specs I like to go all out on a bright shade that really packs a punch and stands out just as much as my frames.
Strong brows Note: strong, tidy brows. Like I said I have quite dark features naturally, but it makes such a difference when my brows are tidy and well groomed. I don't do it to make them a statement but so they don't get lost behind my frames.
Styling There is a fine line when styling your glasses between getting it right and trying too hard, and consequently looking like a hipster. With having my hair up as well as my glasses on I tend to sway more towards button down shirts or high neck tops. Something that wouldn't necessarily look as good if I had my hair down.

Better late than never

Primark shoes (similar here)
Olivia Burton watch (similar here)

I forgot I had these saved in my draft for probably about a month now. I remember taking these Easter weekend so yeah it's been a while. I wish I looked this presentable right now. I've had the week from hell at work and I've got stress spots for days (queue 11pm emergency face mask). Six hours sleep in two days and powered up to the high heavens on pro plus and it's officially took it's toll. I had a minor breakdown earlier and all I wanted was a hug from my Mamma (after a two hour nap on her sofa).

I've learnt a lot this week, about myself and my worth, and as soon as I've caught up on sleep I'm going to start researching a career change into midwifery, because I've always promised myself that if I dread going to work, I should be doing something different. You should always remember that too.
